Iranian film ‘Nargesi’ has won the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the GOA International Film Festival in India.

Iranian film ‘Nargesi’, directed by Payam Eskandari, has won the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the GOA International Film Festival in India.

Produced by Shahab Hosseini, the film grabbed one of the main awards of the 52nd edition of the event.

The film follows Hossein, who has Down’s syndrome. His greatest wish is to find love and get married and for this, he is ready at doing anything. It seems, however, that there is no place for him and his love in this world until a gift completely turns his life around…

Shahab Hosseini, Behnaz Jafari, Ghazaleh Nazar, Mahsa Maleki and Hossein Eskandari star in the film.

Launched in 1952, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.

The 52nd edition of the event was held on November 20-28, 2022.
